Haleakala sunrise from 9,740 feet with hotel pickup, park entry, and local breakfast. Cold summit, big sky, and real value.

“The best sunrise I have ever experienced! Preston with Polynesian Adventures was outstanding! I know it’s a bit unusual to pack winter clothes for a vacation in Maui, but it’s so worth it! Make sure to bring plenty of layers - I thought we were being overdramatic by bringing hats, gloves, scarves and down jackets, but we wore all of it! On this tour, you’ll end up being outside in 30 degree weather on a good day for 2 hrs. It’s worth it to bring the extra layers. We were picked up at our hotel at 3 am to make the 1 1/2 hr drive up to Haleakala Crater at…”

“The sunrise was breathtaking, the whole experience of the color changes is a spectacle. Dan was an awesome tour guide, very funny and knowledgeable, gave a great tour. The top of the summit is very cold, definitely wear layers, you'll be able to leave your extra layers in the van for the switchbacks. You will need to take the layers for the second portion but you can use one of their backpacks or bring your own. The bike ride was very fun. The road is tight but it is totally doable for almost all levels of rider. We did self guided and are not avod riders and we did fine.…”

“The actual bike riding experience was great. My experience with Viator was not. Viator did not send me the address of where to meet. I tried logging on using the email I used to sign up and it would not work. It would send me an email to sign in without a password and then would tell me the email was incorrect. That was false because I received confirmation of the booking. We looked it up online and found an address for pickup at Baldwin. But nobody was there. I got a hold of someone at Viator on the phone which the phone number is very hard to find on…”

Haleakala sunrise tour with West Side pickup, summit timing, and a hearty plantation breakfast at Cafe O’Lei. All-in ride.

“The pickup from our hotel was excellent. If you’re prone to motion sickness, I wouldn’t recommend this drive, as the road to Haleakalā is very winding. Our driver, Bill, was fantastic. The sunrise was absolutely beautiful and truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience, though it was quite cold during the two-hour wait for the sun to rise. Breakfast at the Kumu Cafe in the Maui Tropical Plantation was quite delicious (you have three options to choose from-I chose the macadamia pancakes option). After breakfast, I really enjoyed exploring the plantation grounds. Overall, it was a great tour.”

“For the Canadians:If you are ready to heat sarcastic remarks about Canadians from your bike guide Go ahead! Not me!Tour guide saying you are the 51 st state , when I said definitely not his answer was:oh you re one of them! And went on with very negative remarks about Prime Minister Trudeau and enem the new one Carney! It is not like you have a president that you can be proud of! Remarks like this in a guided tour are totally inappropriate! So unfortunately it is a nice tour but I will not recommend it to Canadians!”

“When booking, I thought it was a 1:30-8:30p tour (7 h) but was informed after purchasing that it was more like 4.5h. We left the pickup site 25 mins late, so we were rushed for time in the visitors center. The driver was nice, but wasn't an engaging tour guide so not much was learned going up the mountain. There was no talking/tour on the way down. I feel like the cost should have been half the price I paid.”

“Kimo is fantastic! Exceptional knowledge of Maui including plant and animal life. Provided great safety and ride instructions. However, it was disappointing to learn during the pre-ride instructions that the section through Kula is closed to riders. I would have benefitted from being informed ahead of time. Other than that, Kona bikes are great to ride and scenery is always wonderful.”
