The top of the summit is very cold, definitely wear layers, you'll be able to leave your extra layers in the van for the switchbacks. You will need to take the layers for the second portion but you can use one of their backpacks or bring your own. The bike ride was very fun. I tried logging on using the email I used to sign up and it would not work. It would send me an email to sign in without a password and then would tell me the email was incorrect. “The pickup from our hotel was excellent. If you’re prone to motion sickness, I wouldn’t recommend this drive, as the road to Haleakalā is very winding. Our driver, Bill, was fantastic. The sunrise was absolutely beautiful and truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience, though it was quite cold during the two-hour wait for the sun to rise. Breakfast at the Kumu Cafe in the Maui Tropical Plantation was quite delicious (you have three options to choose from-I chose the macadamia pancakes option). After breakfast, I really enjoyed exploring the plantation grounds. Overall, it was a great tour.”

It is not like you have a president that you can be proud of! Remarks like this in a guided tour are totally inappropriate! “When booking, I thought it was a 1:30-8:30p tour (7 h) but was informed after purchasing that it was more like 4.5h. We left the pickup site 25 mins late, so we were rushed for time in the visitors center. The driver was nice, but wasn't an engaging tour guide so not much was learned going up the mountain. There was no talking/tour on the way down. I feel like the cost should have been half the price I paid.”

“Kimo is fantastic! Exceptional knowledge of Maui including plant and animal life. Provided great safety and ride instructions. However, it was disappointing to learn during the pre-ride instructions that the section through Kula is closed to riders. I would have benefitted from being informed ahead of time. Other than that, Kona bikes are great to ride and scenery is always wonderful.”
